Northern Wilderness Organizations:

Alaska Wilderness League: For wildlife like polar bears and caribou, for local communities and Alaska Natives, and for future generations, Alaska Wilderness League strives to protect Alaska’s most significant wild land from industrial threats, including areas like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the Tongass National Forest, Teshekpuk Lake in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, and areas offshore Alaska in the Beaufort Sea and the Chukchi Sea."

American Rivers: a national non-profit conservation organization dedicated to protecting and restoring healthy natural rivers and the variety of life they sustain for people, fish, and wildlife.

BC Nature: a federation of local natural history groups that represents 50 local nature clubs throughout BC.

Bird Studies Canada: to advance the understanding, appreciation, and conservation of wild birds and their habitats, in Canada and elsewhere, through studies that engage the skills, enthusiasm, and support of its members, volunteers, and the interested public. Bird Studies Canada is a not-for-profit organization built on the enthusiastic contributions of thousands of volunteer Citizen Scientists. Data from Bird Studies Canada's volunteer surveys and targeted research projects are used to identify significant population changes and help direct conservation planning.

Boreal Forest Network: The Boreal Forest Network is the Canadian arm of the Taiga Rescue Network, a voluntary organization of environmentalists, indigenous peoples and scientists concerned with the protection and sustainable use of the boreal forest.

Boreal Songbird Initiative: The Boreal Songbird Initiative is dedicated to educating birdwatchers and naturalists throughout the United States about the importance of the boreal forest to migratory birds.

Canadian Boreal Initiative: An independent organization working with conservationists, First Nations, industry and others to link science, policy and conservation activities in Canada's boreal region.

CPAWS: Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society: Founded in 1963, the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) has helped protect over 300,000 square kilometers of Canada's threatened wild areas. Yukon Chapter.

Federation of Alberta Naturalists: a network of 37 clubs with upwards of 5,000 members participating in the study, enjoyment, and conservation of wild Alberta.

Friends of the BWCA Wilderness: formed in 1976 to protect this vulnerable area and two years later shepherded legislation through Congress that brought full protection to the Boundary Waters. Today, the Minneapolis, Minnesota-based organization of 4,000 members is a sentry against further harm in the BWCAW and the Quetico-Superior Ecosystem.

International Migratory Bird Day: a non-profit organization working to increase awareness of birds and their conservation throughout the Western Hemisphere. We provide the framework and education materials for bird festivals and events, host a directory of bird education resources, offer bird workshops for educators, and motivate people of all ages to get outdoors to learn about birds.

Manitoba Wildlands: Manitoba Wildlands is a nonprofit environmental organization that aims to provide information about public processes that affect Manitoba land and waters; decisions for use of crown (public) lands and water; technical information about Manitoba's lands and waters; and action to protect Manitoba lands and waters.

National Audubon Society: the mission of the National Audubon Society is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity".

Natural History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador: a province-wide organization with a primary interest in promoting the enjoyment and protection of all wildlife and natural history resources in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and surrounding waters.

Nature Canada: to establish Canada as a Nature Nation, where threatened species and ecosystems are protected, common species and ecosystems are conserved, ecological integrity is maintained, and the natural world is embraced by Canadians every day."

Nature Conservancy: founded in 1951, partners with indigenous communities, businesses, governments, multilateral institutions, other non-profits. "Protecting nature, preserving life."

Nature Saskatchewan: promotes the appreciation and understanding of our natural environment through education, conservation and research. Founded in 1949, Nature Saskatchewan has been observing, documenting and protecting the province's biological diversity for nearly 60 years. Nature Saskatchewan provides the cultural link by which people are inspired, gain knowledge of and ultimately enjoy and protect the natural world around them.

New Parks North: Annual newsletter with brief status reports on projects concerning the establishment and development of new parks, related heritage areas and other conservation initiatives in northern Canada.

NWT Recreation and Parks Association: a non-profit organization that works with communities across the territory to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Our mission is “to increase public awareness of recreation and parks and to enhance the quality of life of residents in the NWT by promoting and supporting the development of recreation, parks services and leadership throughout the North."

Ontario Nature: protects and restores natural habitats through research, education and conservation, connecting thousands of individuals and communities with nature. Working to protect and conserve Ontario's wetlands, woodlands and wildlife.

Quetico Foundation: dedicated to the preservation of wilderness areas, particularly of Quetico Park, Ontario, Canada.

Sierraclub of Canada: The Sierra Club of Canada is a membership-based organization dedicated to promoting public policies and awareness of environmental issues.

Toronto Field Naturalists: dedicated to encouraging the study of natural history and the preservation of Toronto's natural heritage.

Voyageurs National Park Association: protexts and promotes the natural, recreational, and historical resources of Voyageurs National Park.

West Kitikmeot/Slave Study Society: a partnership of aboriginal, environmental organizations, government and industry that wish to make sure the effects of development on the environment, wildlife and people of the WKSS area are minimal and that northern people get the maximum benefits.

Wilderness Committee: Canada's largest membership-based citizen-funded wilderness preservation organization, the Wilderness Committee works for the preservation of Canadian and international wilderness through research, grassroots education and on-the-ground effort to achieve ecologically sustainable communities.
