Open Source Reference Collection

Google book search was first introduced in 2004, and currently makes available full versions of public domain books from their extensive and searchable database (which grows by an estimated 3,000 new volumes each day). Other sites, such as Microsoft book search (and many museums and research archive collections), also make their public domain materials available for download. A small collection of these books and resources have been indexed below, or have been included here with the explicit permission of the research library holding the original manuscript. Other open research collections with links to digital collections include the American Museum of Natural History, the University of Toronto's Barren Lands Collection, the Champlain Society, Early Canadiana Online, Mana'o Project , UBCIC Digital Collections, and the University of Tromso's MUNIN Open Research Archive.
