Featured Interactive Media Site: Exploring Antarctica

by admin ~ April 11th, 2007

I’m always on the look out for new media that highlights the creativity and potential of the internet. The Washington Post has authored an impressive interactive media site on the living laboratory of Antarctica: “Exploring Antarctica.” The site features videos and photos from the McMurdo Dry Valleys and Mt. Erebus, narrative journals from scientists and the photographer George Steinmetz, resources for travelers, and a running background of sights and sounds from the continent. With up to 29,000 visitors in 2005 and 2006 (and 1,000 scientists stationed in Antarctica over the winter), join the journey to this remote region and visit the Washington Post site on-line. Credit goes to Adam J. Kipple (designer), Lindsay G. McCullough (photo editor), Alicia Cypress (text editor), George Steinmetz (photographer), and others.
