Aboriginal Policy Research Conference (March 8-12, 2009)

Aboriginal Policy Research Conference – In November 2002, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), in conjunction with the University of Western Ontario (UWO), brought together prominent Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal researchers, policy makers and Aboriginal leaders at the first ever Aboriginal Policy Research Conference. In March 2006, INAC and the UWO joined with the National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) to sponsor, organize and deliver the second Aboriginal Policy Research Conference. The 2006 Aboriginal Policy Research Conference engaged Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal researchers and policy makers in the pursuit of better, more appropriate research, evidence-based policy and policy outcome assessments. The first conference received 600 delegates; the second surpassed 1,100 delegates from across Canada and world-wide.
