NWT Snow Surveys (2010)

Indian and Northern Affairs Canada – The snow cover melts each spring to yield a depth of snow water equivalent SWE, called the annual spring freshet. To estimate the freshet SWE, end-of-winter snow surveys are conducted at each station before spring melt. At each station a survey consists of ten measurements of snow depth and density. The measurements are averaged to determine SWE in millimetres mm.

Survey sites: Fort Simpson, South Slave, Inuvik, Taltson Basin, Snare Basin, and Yellowknife.
