Images of Iceland’s Vast Landscapes
New York Times – When Iceland’s Eyjafjalla volcano exploded on March 21, the photographer Ragnar Th. Sigurdsson boarded a Cessna and flew to the scene — one he said was “so beautiful you can’t imagine. When you stand in front of it you feel the heat and you can hear and feel the earth moving and trembling,” said Mr. Sigurdsson, 51 … Mr. Sigurdsson has been photographing the Vatnajökull Ice Cap, on the east side of the country, for 25 years. This year, he helped organize a festival showcasing the area’s music and art. His own contribution was simple: huge pictures both in and of a vast landscape.
