Exhibits (London): “Hidden Histories of Exploration” (15 October – 10 December 2009)

Royal Geographical SocietyHidden Histories of Exploration reveals the contribution of people such as Juan Tepano, Mohammed Jen Jamain, Sidi Mubarak Bombay, Nain Singh and Pedro Caripoco to the history of exploration. Find out about their role and its lasting significance, as illustrated in the paintings, books, maps photographs, artefacts and manuscripts of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG).

Arctic and Pacific Northwest drawings include The Pacific Albums of John Linton Palmer (“his sketches of North-West Coast Indian and Inuit peoples, and their artefacts, reveals a highly developed interest in the detail of material cultures in the process of rapid change”).  Visit exhibit’s gallery page to view images on-line.
