In Media Res: Web Feature on Indigenous Media (May 4 – 9, 2009)

In Media Res – a collaborative web media project, “In Media Res is dedicated to experimenting with collaborative, multi-modal forms of online scholarship. Each day, a different scholar will curate a 30-second to 3-minute video clip/visual image slideshow accompanied by a 300-350-word impressionistic response.”  As a daily web-site forum, the goals of the site are to provide a venue for networking and collaboration between artists, scholars and “curators” around the world,  interactive debate and discussion, bridging “the divide between academic and non-academic communities,” and expanding the role of media scholars, teachers, producers, and more.

From May 4 – 9, 2009, updates to site include a daily feature on indigenous media.  The first exhibit of the series is a feature by Faye Ginsburg: “Beyond Broadcast: Launching NITV on Isuma TV.”
