Nature Canada: Conservationists’ report card gives feds failing grade in species protection

Nature Canada – Legislation to protect species from becoming extinct has been in force in Canada for six years. When Canada enacted the federal Species at Risk Act (SARA) to address the mounting threats to Canada’s endangered species, it was an important day for wildlife protection in North America.  So far, it has fully protected only one species: a lucky snail in Banff National Park.
